CAM-SIMA

CAM-SIMA will replace CAM as the atmospheric component of CESM. As CAM-SIMA will not be completed before the release of CESM3.0, it will debut in a later incremental release of the system, CESM3.X. As a requirement for such a future CESM3.X release, CAM-SIMA should be able to reproduce the CMIP7 workhorse configuration in CESM3.0 to within acceptable climatological variation.

The climate configurations of CAM-SIMA will be maintained and further developed by the AMWG and governed by the CESM activity. The SIMA project delivers valuable new capabilities to CESM allowing the model to tackle broader scientific problems thus expanding the scope of the CESM activity.
